Apartment Review for American River Commons Apartments - Sacramento, CA

I lived here for 2 years while attending Sac State. There were a couple times when our heater broke or our smud bill was high but the maintenance seemed to be very responsive when my roommate called and I attribute the high bills to another roomate who always turned up the AC and heat ridiculously high and left everything on in her room while she was never home. Applying for low income smud also helps the bills a lot if you are a student or just have a limited income. We lived the "cottage" style 3 bedroom apartments that are separate from the other buildings so I can't speak for the whole complex but I found it to be a quiet place and never felt unsafe even though I lived with all females and they were not home a lot of the time. My roommate did have her car broken into a couple times but she also left expensive things laying out and compared to complexes where my friends live I think this one is very safe. I personally never had any security issues with my car or the apartment itself. I would recommend the cottage apartments if you can snag one and can find good roommates, it's the best price-wise and as far as noise goes.
