Apartment Review for River Glen Apartments - Sacramento, CA

First I'll fill you in on the stars then I'll give you some fun details! 1) Safety I've had to call the police 3+ times since living here, I have the security company and police number posted on my fridge and front door. 2) Parking. Well this is the fun one sure there is covered parking... if you drive a mo-ped. My husband has climbed in the window of the car before because he couldn't open the door (this was on 2 seater coupe...tiny) We parked the car in the regular non-covered parking and it has been broken into (not even a nice car!!) My car is also covered in dings and scratches because the neighbors will hit your car with their car doors when the lot is full because parking is so tight. Your neighbors just don't care. 3) I LOVE the outside appearance of this complex, it is what made me want to live here in the first place, just remember you can't judge a book by it's cover. 4) The office staff wants you to pay rent and shut-up, if you neighbors are crazy loud, they don't want to hear it. I think they forget that we pay alot for rent and would like to feel somewhat like we are at home and comfortable/safe you get pretty lame service. This whole place was quieter and more gorgious when the owners lived here. 5) The maintenance guys are not the problem, they are very kind and helpful. However they are dispatched by the manager. Often without warning. When I have an issue I want to be told "I will be there around {date and time}" so I can be present while they are in my unit. Not to mention have time to clean up. My apartment is my home and I don't want strangers rummaging around without me being there. How many people would let strangers have a key to a house they own to repair on a whim! 6) The condition of units is interesting. They look great move in day, but are really not ment for tenants staying more than 3-6 months. The carpet is oober cheap, the paint is worse, and so far I have replaced every door knob accept the front door since we've moved in as they've all broken. Also the kitchen drawers have no tracks so they all hang crazy when you pull them out to put things in. There is also next to no storage in the kitchens. 7. Noise level... Inside is okay if your neighbors understand that blasting bass is not okay. I never hear neighbors talking inside their apartments. However, as I am typing this I am listening to screaming children. I have two children, and it isn't them! Parents open their front doors and push children ranging from age 2-up out to play. Be prepared to listen to them, and see them. We used to have one set of kids that would come to our door and ask questions alllll of the time! So annoying. They often enjoy peeping through and throwing rocks at windows. I love the winter because it is too cold and wet to play outside. There is a park 3 short blocks away where I take my kids to burn off steam, but why would anyone else take their kids there? Upstairs is okay for noise because you don't see and hear the kids quite so loud. Downstairs we get the sounds from upstairs all day and all night as well as the sounds from the kids playing on the stairs The apartments could be great if they payed a bit more attention to who exactly is moving in. I have friends who live in the complex accross the street who pay less and LOVE their home. They can't figure out what went wrong here!! I can't figure it out either!
