RUN AT ALL COSTS!! NO RIGHTS FOR THE RENTERS!!
Review Date: 8/14/2009 Reviewer: Anonymous
HORRIBLE management!! NO Privacy what so ever- I received a '24 hour notice' at 10pm saying they would be there at 8am the next day for one of their BS 'inspections'. They ACT like you have the option to make an appointment for those so that fellow TEENS aren't rummaging through your apartment while you are gone. UNTRUE! I Left THREE messages for the joke of assistant manager, Sonya. Of course, I never got a return call to schedule that appointment, although of course they went through my apartment. TWICE I found out LATER that they had been in my room WITHOUT me knowing it. I only happened to find out because I happened to be at a lofts party with a CA who was drunk and told me 'Hey, just so you know...". ALSO- In those same voice mails I asked to be contacted for a walk-thru date as I was moving out in August (My move in date was Aug 7th, I had a 12 month lease w/1month free rent as a promo) and needed my deposit. At the lofts, I was told that they do not pro-rate, whether you move in aug. 1st or 30th you still pay the whole months 'installment'. Fine. It was also to be this way when I moved out. Then today a CA just walks in to my apartment, hears me in the room, and walks out. I have had sunglasses and shoes gone missing, I always thought it was my room mate...maybe it was the 19 year old students who are given the power to walk in to any room at ANY time. I went to see the manager to confront him about this. He told me that I was actually supposed to move out on July 31st. Today is 08/14. No one has noticed that I Am STILL there, no one has called me back for my walk through I asked for three times, which stated I would be gone Aug. 21st. I was told Sonya did not return my call because she was 'TOO BUSY'. All of this while getting (of course) DIRTY looks from the CA's in the office. Laws broken: #1- The continuous disregard for a proper 24 hr notice. I do NOT feel comfortable with other students going through my room, especially when I FIRSTHAND witness them at parties here smoking pot, hooking up with my friends, and drinking under age. They do not seem so ethically or morally responsible. #2- The LAW requires that the deposit MUST be refunded 14 days after your lease expires. I have received no deposit, no walk through, no notice..hell they didn't even know I was living here. I was told by the NEW manager that this was because 'THEY WERE BUSY'. Well, I HOPE Your not too busy for a lawsuit because it is definitely coming eventually. Also-If I was out the 31st, and I had a free months rent, WHY did I pay JULY rent? Of course, they weren't too busy to charge me they were just too busy to realize the WRITTEN terms of my lease. I am not THE ONLY resident who has went through the Upper East Side DRAMA. It has been horrible since DAY ONE. AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COSTS! If you do sign a lease here, you have been warned. They will say they are under new management-This is not a GOOD thing. BE CAREFUL, and I must stress to get EVERYTHING in writing because they WILL take advantage of you!! |
