Apartment Review
poorly managed 55+ senior community

Avoid this apartment for the following reasons: Vintage advertises as a 55+ community but allows very young people to live here. The 2 week non-resident visitation rule and other rules are ignored by onsite apartment manager Teri Brown. The property owners, USA Multifamily Management, require that incoming residents sign a form to comply with these rules. Consequently, the pool, computer access room, and gym, are often filled with younger people who make the residents wait for their turn! This is outrageous and Ms. Brown intentionally remains aloof. The mismanaged office puppet staff are so intent in filling up a resident quota that applicants are improperly screened, thereby qualifying people who should instead be admitted to assisted living facilities. Example, not long ago a three story apartment building was evacuated from a fire caused by older residents who went to bed while leaving food cooking on their gas stove. The resident maintenance man who lived in this building quickly moved his family into a garden apartment! Also at least 4 people have died at Vintage since June 2008. It is quite common to see the fire department make several emergency trips here daily. The Fire Battalion Chief admitted that “Vintage has an abnormal amount of 911 calls”. Finally, if you are old, sick, in need of assisted living, and are current Vintage resident this is what you can expect - Recently one Sunday afternoon my downstairs neighbor yelled “help” from her apartment window. I rushed to the office to notify management. The Customer Service Rep Lisa, who was doing paper work, REFUSED to call the police or an EMT because it was “her day off” she “did not want to get involved”. Lisa finally relented and called the police after I mentioned that Vintage Apartments would be liable if the person was truly sick. After 2 police cars, 1 security patrol car, 1 fire truck, and 1 EMT van my neighbor was ambulanced to the hospital with chest pains. This type of apathy is unacceptable and Teri Brown condones it. Management is not only calloused towards the needs of older residents but this indifference trickles down to other tenants who have legitimate requests or concerns. I stated only a few disadvantages of living here not to mention the ongoing thefts and vandalism in the parking lot. USA Multifamily Management should terminate Teri Brown as manager. One positive note, Mike the Maintenance Supervisor is great! He is an excellent technician and makes every effort to accommodate emergent resident needs. I believe his talents are being wasted at this facility.
